Core values are a set of principles that guide our church families’ attitudes, behaviours and decisions.  The following serve as our cultural cornerstones:

GATEWAY CORE VALUES

A foundation based on God’s Word produces steadfast faith and life, and allows us to be living examples to others.

Everyone who hears these words…and puts them into practice…built his house on the rock.  Matthew 7:24-29.

God wants us to be led by His Spirit, and as Spirit-filled believers, we can learn to follow the inward voice.

Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God;  Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.  Ps 143:10.

Paul rejoiced that the Christians in Thessalonica were growing in faith, and so do we.

“We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing” (2 Thessalonians 1:3).

The psalmist cried of a zeal for the house of God.  We too, let the controlling passion, the first love of our lives be Him and His church.

“Zeal for your house will consume me.” John 2:17

As His church, we are committed to the word of God wholeheartedly.   We pursue honesty and strong moral principles.

‘Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you.’  Psalms 25:21

There is no room for discrimination in the Kingdom of God.  Discriminating against someone because of their gender, their ethnicity or their socioeconomic status is not tolerated in our church, just as it isn’t in the kingdom of God.

For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbour as yourself.”  Gal 5:14

EVANGELISM, OUTREACH, EMBEDDING FAITH IN THE NEXT GENERATION, PASTORAL CARE – these are all core elements of what our church family is!

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had.  Romans 15:5

Paul declared in Philippians 3 that he considered every good thing he had done ‘garbage’ compared to knowing Christ. What a powerful statement of hunger and thirst for God.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”  Matt 5:6

We cannot live a fulfilling Christian life without embracing the attitude of being a servant.  We must follow the example of Jesus as the ultimate servant in the Bible.

…“You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 43 But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  Mark 10:42-45

We live mindful of the fact that Jesus could return at any time.  So we make wise decisions with our life and our finances, and we take care of our church and the vision He has entrusted to us.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.  1 Peter 4:10

GATEWAY CULTURE

Culture is defined as the ideas, customs, and social behaviour of a particular people or society.  Gateway Christian Centre’s culture is easily summed up in 1 Corinthians 13:13:  And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

We believe that God can.

We believe that God wants to.

We choose love – always.
